Media Education for Seniors – Becoming a Media Educator for the Elderly

This training course equips adult educators, senior trainers, and media professionals with the skills and knowledge to become Media Educators for the Elderly – a much-needed role in today’s digitally evolving society.

Developed within the BonJour! Project, the course addresses the growing need to foster media literacy, critical thinking, and digital skills among older adults (55+). Participants will learn how to assess the learning needs of seniors, design inclusive media education programmes, and empower elderly learners to engage in journalism and digital content creation.

The course includes:

  • Strategies for critical media use and digital empowerment of seniors
  • A ready-to-use curriculum and methodology based on journalism
  • Guidance for building a supportive learning environment
  • Access to a digital platform and a practical handbook for Media Educators

By completing the course, participants will join a new pool of qualified Media Educators for the Elderly, capable of bridging the digital generation gap and promoting active civic engagement among seniors.
