Module 2 – Media Literacy Essentials

This module provides a fundamental introduction to media literacy. Over the course of four hours, participants will explore what media literacy means and why it is essential in today’s digital world. The module guides learners in distinguishing between facts and opinions, and in recognising common forms of disinformation, manipulation, and fake news.

Participants will learn how to critically analyse different types of content, including news, opinion pieces, entertainment, marketing, and social media. The module also introduces practical tools for fact-checking, such as Snopes, EDMO, Reuters, and Politifact, helping learners to verify information and make informed decisions.
